Rich Kurkowski, JD, LLM
Rich Kurkowski is the Founder of Insyte Tax, a tax strategy firm focused on helping business owners and high-income professionals reduce lifetime taxes through proactive planning.
Rich brings more than a decade of tax experience spanning public accounting, private practice, and in-house corporate tax planning. He earned his bachelor's degree in Accounting from Marquette University and began his career at Deloitte before attending DePaul University College of Law.
After law school, Rich joined the tax controversy practice at Mayer Brown, one of the nation's premier tax law firms, where he represented taxpayers in complex federal tax matters. He later followed a former Mayer Brown partner to Winston & Strawn's tax controversy practice, continuing to advise clients on sophisticated tax issues and disputes.
Rich subsequently joined Abbott Laboratories as International Tax Counsel, where he spent five years helping one of the world's largest healthcare companies navigate complex domestic and international tax planning matters. During this time, he earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University's Executive Program, widely regarded as one of the most respected graduate tax programs in the country.
Drawn to entrepreneurship, Rich later built and operated multiple businesses before returning to the role of trusted advisor as a Certified EOS Implementer. Over several years, he coached over 30 entrepreneurial leadership teams, gaining a deep understanding of the challenges faced by privately held business owners. That experience continues to shape his approach today, allowing him to translate complex tax concepts into practical strategies aligned with business and personal goals.
Rich founded Insyte Tax because he saw a recurring problem: many successful business owners and professionals were craving proactive tax planning. His mission is to help clients identify opportunities, implement strategies, and make informed decisions that can meaningfully reduce taxes over their lifetime.
Rich lives in Franklin, Tennessee, with his wife, two daughters, and two dogs. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, endurance training, and pursuing annual challenge events that push him beyond his comfort zone.
